After two successful editions, the WeMakeThe.City festival is heading for 2025 as a biennale: the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam. In this Corona year, we will be talking about the uncertain future of our city and metropolitan region in a 12-hour LIVECAST marathon. With the theme 'Reset', we bring genius thinking, imagination and creativity together to formulate alternative visions and perspectives for action.
How are we going to do things differently in the coming years? What should we stop doing immediately and in which areas should we invest heavily? What new financial models and alliances do we need for this? How do we work together to make our metropolis fairer, more inclusive, more sustainable, more climate-resilient, safer, more successful and happier? And above all, which values are guiding in the decisions that we will have to take as a society in the coming period?
The starting point for this WeMakeThe.City marathon is that the Amsterdam metropolis belongs to all of us; from Nieuw-West and Oud-West, from Almere and Amstelveen, from Zuidoost and Purmerend, from all residents and entrepreneurs, from civil servants and activists, from minorities and majorities, from politics and neighborhood communities, from young and old.
After all, together we make the city of the future for, for and by everyone!
