4th DCODE Winter School – Design for AI systems

30-01-2023

The European project DCODE recently organized its fourth Winter School - from Jan. 23 to 27 in Edinburgh, Scotland - on the central theme: 'Design for AI systems'. During this week there was also room for governance issues about future AI systems and how to design them so that we can co-create sustainable business models in a digital society.

Design for the future

DCODE is a three-year EU ITN Marie-Curie research project that aims to review current design practice in relation to the digital, sustainable transformation of society. From the research group Digital Life Mugdha Patil, PhD student, and Somaya Ben Allouch, lecturer, are involved in this network.

Winter School

During the Winter School, the 15 PhD students involved gave an overview of their progress now that the research project is halfway through its term. In addition to the research institutions, non-academic partners also participate in DCODE, such as the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions, Philips, Open Future and Clearbox AI. The network will soon be strengthened with partner BBC.

The next DCODE Summer School is scheduled for May 2023 and in 2024 it will be the AUAS's turn to organize a major final event where we hope to see all interested AUAS colleagues!
