Digital Life is a research group at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

Our research is based on the wider societal aim of employing artificial intelligence and digital technology to improve the following three pillars:

  • health and wellbeing
  • play & creativity
  • learning & education

The research agenda of Digital Life comprises:

  1. people-oriented development and use of data-driven systems
  2. development and study of interaction and interface between human and system
  3. implementation and evaluation of these systems in practice

health & wellbeing

Health & wellbeing

We see health and wellbeing as part of everyday life beyond the clinic, and explore how emerging technologies and human–AI collaboration can seamlessly support people in living and feeling well at every stage of life.

play & creativity

Play & creativity

We approach play as a way of learning, making, and connecting with others, and design experiences where people and intelligent technologies create together, making our lives more imaginative, expressive, and socially alive.

learning & education

Learning & education

We believe learning is a lifelong journey driven by curiosity, and from a child-centred perspective, investigate how digital tools, data, and design can support children in becoming curious, capable, and creative learners.
